I am now a HUGE fan of Jamaica Kincaid, just from this one lil essay .

A Small Place takes tourists past what they would experience then it goes beyond that. One sees how colonization and tourism have transformed Antigua into the place it is today. I drew so many parallels between Antigua's experience and The Bahamas' experience. Kincaid literally read us (The Bahamas) for filth! Kincaid shows how complex island life is and all the nuances that comes with living it. I need more Jamaica Kincaid now please!!
