Problematic Summer Romance by Ali Hazelwood
3.5
3.5⭐️ Maya is better than me... | tropes: age gap, angst, brother's best friend | medium steam | audio
Overall Thoughts 💭:
From the summary of this book, I didn't expect it to be so angsty and slow burn. It's kind of a second chance at love, which is a trope I often dnf, but I stuck with it for Miss Hazelwood. Maya is in the final boss of all situationship, and holy hel,l it made my tummy hurt. I admit pride is one of my flaws to the amount of rejection Connor subjected her to made me feel an urge to jump into the book and dead it right there. Still, Maya loved him a lot and the book does a great job through flashbacks showcasing why he has this hold on her and how she knows that he loves her even when he's being a dickhead. I wish Connor had something to make him more appealing... Maybe the accent was supposed to do that, but the rejection gave me such an ick, the only thing that could've saved him was a few pov chapters from him.
