A Fox and a Box: Short fun stories for new readers
by Tanja Russita
*WON A COPY FROM GOODREADS' GIVEAWAYS*
RECOMMENDED FOR ALL NEW READERS AND THEIR PARENTS
I read this book to my son (5 years old), and he loves it! He was hesitant at first - I don't know why - but ended up laughing at almost every page turned. He enjoyed the stories but even more so enjoyed that he was able to guess what was coming based off of the illustrations.
I will be using it to teach him how to read. The words and illustrations on each page are minimal - perfect for showing the little ones what the word for an object is. Example: Arm. The only illustration is an arm and hand, and 'arm' is the only word on the page. I LOVE IT.
Four stars only for lack of color - the illustrations are black & white. A splash of color occasionally would have made it more fun. BUT it does not take away from the entertainment and learning value of the book. I don't think my son even noticed.
