I wanted to like this book, so much. It wasn't bad but it wasn't well done either. It felt very forced and I felt like there was a lot of extra that wasn't needed and took away from the book (banana shaped green dog turds, anyone?). It could have been edited down and that would have made it a lot better on it's own. There were a couple of decent characters but others were extremely lacking.

Heart Shaped Box was much better, scarier, and was better written. I *enjoyed* that book. I finished this one because I wanted to know how it managed to wrap up.

I give this 2.5 stars. I finished it....but it fell very short of where I like a horror novel to be.
