Ugh. The FMC of this book starts out as a directionless and unlikable human being and remains that way. As much as you want to feel bad for her given how the book starts she does absolutely nothing but do as she’s told once she is offered a place at the school. I knew the second she met her advisor that I should have just stopped reading because they were definitely going to end up together despite the power imbalance between them because that’s just how the FMC seems to operate. The world building relies upon you knowing what Savannah Georgia is like and doesn’t actually develop the magic system. By the time things beyond the FMC learning to use her powers started happening I was already dying for it to be over.
