Dragon Mage
by M.L. Spencer
I found this book very disappointing. It started okay and I was hoping to at least enjoy it, but the more I read the less interested I was in anything happening.
The best thing about the book is probably the two main characters, especially Markus who I really liked. They are however the only two characters I even slightly cared about - except perhaps for the dragons, who weren't in the book anywhere near enough. I also felt that the characters were not really affected at all by extremely traumatic experiences.
The frustrating thing is that multiple times in the book I could see potential for something interesting to happen. Repeatedly the plot felt like it was going in a certain direction and I was briefly intrigued, only for something unexpected to happen that was considerably less interesting. Multiple time jumps did not help.
I wish I loved this book but unfortunately it just didn't work for me at all.
