My favorite case so far, but I really can't bring myself to like Ellie's live in boyfriend. Having children is not something you compromise on and it seems like he's just waiting for her to change her mind - Ellie even mentions that possibility! I just feel as if their make-up talk near the very end of the novel is a band-aid, but clearly Ms. Burke was going for the "happily ever after" feeling of true love and shit. Maybe I'm just cynical.

If the author does make her change her stance, I will not be reading any more of the series. Which is too bad, because the cases are interesting and the rapport between Ellie and her partner is great!

I read crime fiction for the cases and the detectives who solve them, not babies. If I wanted family oriented fiction, I could find it literally everywhere.
