3.5 rounded down. Despite the small town scope, the creepiness and tension of the nightly outings into the nightmare filled forests were entertaining.

Winny Wednesday was a bit all over the place, going from fear to determination to suspicious throughout the story. Her relationships with the other characters never ran too deep, which makes sense due to the exile, but I almost would have liked more sole focus on her and jay for a bit more of a spark then there was now.

What really kept me interested were the spirits and the nightmares it would spawn, but we had a lot less encounters then I liked considering the amount that should be lurking around according to the compendium. I’m interested in reading the sequel since the plot twist at the end had me gasping. I still have quite some questions unanswered, so I’m curious to see how the rest of the story will pan out.
