pretentious, greedy, egotistical, eccentric and wildly american. but quite good. missing the complete catharsis that the novel required though. 

the first ‘novel’ was really interesting and touched on some great themes including mental illness, but as the book went on it just became very boring and dull and far too intellectual/academic. 

also far too much use of the word bourgeois.
