Just as fun on a reread! I'm so impressed by the little clues for future plot and character moments woven in that I didn't catch the first time, and I'm appreciating just how appropriately complex and logical the various magic systems are. So glad I opted to reread these for the release of Oathbound! Deonn's world-building is so GOOD and her examination of multi-generational family trauma and the legacy of slavery is so gutting.
