This booooooook!!!!!!!! I don’t usually love SciFi. It’s alright, I enjoy it, but it’s not my favorite. But Aurora Rising and Aurora burning are CHANGING that. I NEED THE NEXT ONE RIGHT NOW! I love Auri, Kal, Finnian, Tyler, Scarlet, and Zila.
I liked the growth in Kal & Audi’s romance, but I feel like it was like... very slow burn up to a certain point (which I loooove) but then everything happens all at once. Like they move so slow and then all the sudden they’re rushing. I could have used a bit slower pacing with that.
Finnian is his same sarcastic hilarious self. And while I’m not the Finnian stan that most people are, I still love him. I liked the way they focused more on his disability, and the way he handled it felt very true to people with disabilities. Where it’s normal and it’s not and you need help but you don’t. So I really liked this.
Zila got a bit of her own character arc which was SUPER exciting. I really felt like she was just.. there in the first book. Like I kept forgetting she existed and she just seemed like such an underdeveloped character. But that changes in this book! I really hope to see more of it in Aurora 3.
Scarlet and Tyler are probably my least favorite characters. I mean, I love them, of course. They just seem pretty like... perfect and idk. Especial Tyler. They’re so perfect it bores me sometimes. I feel like they don’t really grow as characters?
Saedii was super fun to meet and I liked learning more about syldrathi people, customs, history, etc. I have no idea where they’ll go with her (or if they will) in the third installment but I can’t wait to find out.
Finally—those plot twists? THAT ENDING????
