Batman: Detective
by Paul Dini
I’ve always wondered why so many spiritual successors to Batman: The Animated Series never had the same punch to them. It’s abundantly clear to me now that Paul Dini was instrumental for that show’s success. His Bruce Wayne is serious, but more than capable of a good zinger. He’s focused on his mission but not blind to the struggles of the poor. And I swear every story ends on such a delightful note that I could hear the show’s ending theme in my head at the end of every story. This was an absolute delight. The book is currently out of print, but it’s worth every penny.
