If this had been a nonfiction research essay arguing for Emilia Bassano's authorship of select Shakespeare works, it would have slayed. The fictional part was distractingly unconvincing: significantly anachronistic turns of phrase, character dialogue that reads like excerpts from a JSTOR article, & a series of straw men who take extreme positions to ensure that our heroines are always in the right.
