As with other TJR books I’ve read, the setting and differing character perspectives mixed with dramatic character dynamics make this enjoyable to read and hard to put down. I liked the family relationships in this one and how it all builds up to the 24 hours before/during/after the party.
The 2 parts felt slightly disconnected or maybe it was that the character build was lopsided— we got to know certain ones more than others but the perspectives were split more evenly. I would’ve liked some of the character stories built out more (Specifically Kit, Hud, and Casey and less of June at the beginning)
Overall def recommend — 4 star because it is pretty lighthearted (of a read, not topic) and will not sit with me as long as some other top tier reads I’ve had.
