Kate DiCamillo is the perfect book to read aloud, just to hear the beautiful words and phrases she conjures and the way the characters’ personalities just leap off the page. I always feel her books have a melancholy bass line, but are spun around connections and love. This book is no exception, and it is NOT a watered down version of any of her other beautiful titles.
