The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar
4.5

Amal El-Mohtar did it again. Her prose is so lyrical and fascinating. It was one of the rare times where I wished there was more to the story I  sped through this. I loved that it felt like a fairytale. The magic system was peculiar, and while not explored too deeply, was explained enough for understanding. I loved that it was focused on sisterly love. I loved the non-binary rep. It was gorgeous. My only dislike was that the ending felt too quick for the rest of the story. Also the acknowledgements made me tear up.
