The Hunting Party
by Lucy Foley
slow-paced
Oh my god was this bad. The book is incredibly slow with the plot only picking up in the last 50-100 pages, and even then it’s still slow. The reveals were good but the excitement and thrill quickly dissipated and it became painfully slow again. There’s way too many characters in this book, about fifteen of them, and it’s hard to discern who is who. I had to make a list in my phone at first to remember who was paired up with who and what their deal was. The big reveal at the end was nice, but it felt rushed and I wished it happened a little earlier so I could have a bigger ending. If you want a murder mystery between old friends reconnecting, I would instead recommend The It Girl by Ruth Ware. That book accomplishes what Lucy Foley was trying to do.
