Lydia Hope-Wallace arrives in Scotland intending to propose to the Earl of Strathrannoch, whom she’s been writing politically-charged letters to for the past two years. But because this is a romance novel, things obviously don’t go the way Lydia planned, her debilitating social anxiety notwithstanding. Surprise! She’s been writing to his brother, who'd posing as the Earl of Strathrannoch, and nobody’s more surprised than Arthur, the 𝘒𝘀𝘡𝘢𝘒𝘭 earl.

Romance reasons compel Lydia and Arthur to seek out his brother, go on a road trip, pretend to be married, foil a dastardly plan by the French (England versus France: a tale as old as time), and reunite estranged families, all while having really hot s€x and saying absolutely precious things to each other πŸ₯Ή Needless to say, this book made me ✨feel things✨

𝘌𝘒𝘳𝘭 𝘊𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘩 manages to do two hard things at once: craft a delightful story of two soft-hearted people falling in love AND create a political plot that’s easy for readers to understand while still coming off as high-stakes. It feels a little bit like what would happen if 𝘏π˜ͺ𝘴 𝘈𝘡 π˜•π˜ͺ𝘨𝘩𝘡 went to therapy and made friends with π˜‰π˜³π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨 π˜‹π˜°π˜Έπ˜― π˜›π˜©π˜¦ π˜‹π˜Άπ˜¬π˜¦- it’s the perfect blend of political commentary and romance!
