Nobody is more sad about this rating than I am.

There were choices made in this book that felt entirely unnecessary and the vulgar language seemed woven in only because this was geared for an adult audience. It felt entirely out of place in my opinion. I’m trying not to compare Acevedo’s young adult books to this one but it’s hard when that’s all I’ve read from her thus far.

I’ll still pick up anything Acevedo writes because I believe in her ability to tell a story, this one unfortunately didn’t work for me.
