Plot or Character Driven: A mix

I listened to Station Eleven in a pandemic, so why not read a book about how hard it is to tell the difference between androids and humans set in 2021?

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (1968) follows Rick Deckard as he hunts down androids and retires them.  An empathy test is given to subjects in question in order to determine whether or not they are human.  As androids are given memories, it makes them even more human-like and begins to blur the line of what it means to be a human.

I solely wanted to read this book because it was set in 2021.  I love things that are set in the future, but now the future has come to pass.  I couldn't wait to watch Back to the Future: Part II when Marty goes to the year 2015.  When I first watched the movie as a kid, 2015 seemed so far away.  Now it seems so far away, but in the opposite direction.

I enjoyed Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? much more than I thought I would.  So much so that I wanted to watch Blade Runner right after reading it.  I was surprised that the movie is set in 2019 and even more surprised that the book was originally set in 1992.  Only the recently published editions are set in 2021.  Now that it is 2021, will the setting be changed again?
