This sequel took me on quite the ride, but it left me with mixed feelings. The historical and anatomical elements that I loved in Anatomy: A Love Story were still there, but the mystery felt incomplete. Some major threads didn’t tie up as satisfyingly as I hoped, and there seemed to be a

lack of real consequences for characters like Dr. Beechman and the Companions of Death

, which made the stakes feel less significant.

When it comes to Hazel and Jack, I was disappointed by the shift in their relationship. What felt layered and romantic in the first book seemed to veer into being more lust-driven here. Honestly, I found myself rooting for Dr. Ferris! His witty banter and genuine connection with Hazel stood out in contrast.

That said, the writing is still engaging, and I appreciated the themes of anatomy and mortality. If you’re invested in Hazel’s story, it’s worth the read, but I couldn’t help but feel like the series could’ve delivered a stronger conclusion.
