There was so much potential with the ideas behind this novel (the chosen one coming to save the world and protect the paranormal), unfortunately I do not feel it lived up to the potential. The language used throughout the book felt forced, it did not flow for me. I found it hard to follow at times and had to reread many parts in order to figure out what was going on. It was suppose to be Marie's story but it honestly felt like Jerry's story for the majority of the book. The beginning and the end were about Marie but the middle felt far to focused on Jerry. Overall it the story wrapped up nicely though it felt like it was all over the place throughout the book, it took me way toooo long to read for the size of the book.
