This book will forever live in my heart rent free. I have not read such a profound book in a while. It is such an honest depiction of the atrocities the tragedies that Black people have faced in America.
“ they were down one wrong at a time, mama used to say.”
This Line, pretty much sums up the whole book for me. This is not to say that inhumane crimes are not committed against Black people in this book by people in power but also, there are so many little things that are done that other people were just look over as that’s just how life is, that breaks down a person mentally spiritually emotionally.
I loved all the characters and I have a massive hangover from this book that is going to last me weeks. I also really admire the supernatural aspect that was added to the story. It was done so smartly that it was believable in the real world. It did not feel too far-fetched.
Overall, this book deserves all the praise in the world.
