3.5/5
The Shakespeare Conspiracy is an action thriller that is very much in the vein of The DaVinci Code. Except, for fans of the playwright, William Shakespeare. (obviously.) I loved that the author, Jeffrey Hunter McQuain is an actual expert on William Shakespeare. I thought that was evident from the writing and plot. I loved the way he was able to weave in the smallest of accurate details. It worked really well and added some fun for the reader of the story. I have a passing knowledge of Shakespeare from college and my time studying at Oxford, but it only really scratches the surface on what there is to know about this man, and about his professional career.
Jeffrey Hunter McQuain does an excellent job of making this book seem polished as well as loose and approachable. While the author may be an academic, The Shakespeare Conspiracy reads very easily. I got swept up in Christopher's journey really quickly. I loved all the clues and hints in Shakespeare's works. The anagrams were my favorite! If you are a fan of The DaVinci Code, this is the next book you should be reading. The Shakespeare Conspiracy is fast paced and thrilling. It was a great read.
