The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas
3.0

Listened to the audiobook and boy it was a long one.

Some of the mysteries are unpredictable, a classic whodunnit type of story with an unsatisfying ending because yes I’d like to see the white dude get dragged through the mud a little after all that. I find that the events that happened that caused all 5 cheerleaders to die within such a small time period is a bit unrealistic but I guess it makes an interesting premise!

I like that the characters, although they’re mostly popular girls, are not unnecessarily mean to other people, I feel like it depicts a pretty realistic teenage life & routine. I also like the fact that there’s no heavy handed romance being shoved into my face, although I noticed some gay vibes between Ginny & Monica and I’m a little disappointed they don’t at least kiss a little :-/
The writing style reminds me a lot of Pretty Little Liars, but maybe that’s just because I don’t actually read a lot of books like this and the one I can remember is just PLL. My only problem with this book is just that I found it to drag on a little, there are so many characters and potential leads in Monica’s investigations and reading this book might not be a worthy effort to make for readers who’s not even all that interested to find out about what happened.
