In Bradbury's middle-grade novel, a group of young boys and their mysterious "chaperone" learn about the origins of the holiday we now know as Halloween. In addition to this, the boys are trying to find their friend, Pipkin, and eventually have to make an important decision regarding his fate. This title reminded me of the books in the Magic Tree House series mixed with A Christmas Carol (but swap Christmas with Halloween). While it was written for younger readers, I believe that readers of all ages will appreciate this novel. I am so glad that I went outside of my comfort zone and grabbed The Halloween Tree from my local library because I truly enjoyed reading it!
