Rani Patel in Full Effect by Sonia Patel
4.0

First let me say that I loved the fact that the main character of this book was a WOC. I was a little shocked to see that this was set in the 90s, but considering 90s hip-hop is some of the best I wasn't complaining. Overall this was a great book no matter how much I wanted to shake Rani, the main character. Then again, considering the heavy subject matter of this book, I probably would've been even more frustrated if this had gone easily for her. All in all it's a great read. Be forewarned that Trigger Warning is in full effect with this one (incest, rape, some self harm), but I don't think you'll be disappointed if you give it a try.

Also, the ending seemed abrupt as well as a long time coming if that makes sense. Rani made very poor decisions up until the very last minute of the book which was what was so frustrating about her, but like I said, it's worth read.
