A Restored Man is the third book in the Men of Halfway House series, but it can be read as a standalone - though why would you not want to have read the other two.
Anyone who has read my reviews over the past 12 months knows what a huge fan I have become of the m/m genre. So when the opportunity came to be part of the tour for A Restored Man it was a no brainer.
We first met Cole Renzo during A Hunted Man, though in the background as one of the residents at Halfway House. But even from the little we knew about him I knew I was going to like him.
Like him? Nah, I love him, with his beanies, and his sassy mouth that runs off faster than his brain can stop him. You know he is just going to talk himself into trouble!!
When he gets work with Ty Calloway - brother of Aidan who you meet in the first 2 books - you just know this is going to be a game changer - for both.
He wasn't the same man he was before.
He was broken.
Lately, there was only one thing that managed to get him up on the mornings. The one glimmer of happiness in his life wore a beanie to the shop every workday. He craved the laughter, the brash humor - regardless of how crass it may be. It was genuine. Unguarded. Uninhibited. Unmeasured. ~ Ty Calloway
I love love loved the way Cole and Ty interact. It is cheeky, sexy, fun. Both have things in their past they are trying to work through, and maybe just maybe they will be the ones to pull each other through.
"I'm going to get you a pair of those big, totally unattractive rubber boots."
Ty chuckled. "Why?"
"Because you like to fish for compliments too damn much." ~ Cole Renzo
There is also talk of some super sexy exotic cars.... **drools like Homer Simpson eyeing a doughnut**. As I was reading, I was imagining the cars they were talking about.
I enjoyed the fact that we got more of the guys from the earlier books - especially Matt and Julian. The way Cole taunts Julian, I couldn't help but have a giggle. The antagonism between the pair is great, especially when you know what is behind it all.
So, will Cole and his smart mouth be enough to bring back Ty to the man he used to be? Is Ty enough to help Cole stay on the straight and narrow/
Nope, for that you are going to have to read for yourself
I really, really have enjoyed this series from the get go. There is so much more to them than just a love story - though the love stories are incredible.
Ms Reese writes stories that suck me in from the start, and I don't want to stop reading. Her characters feel real, their issues are real, and you can't help but get emotional with them and for them.
