I read half this, and skimmed the rest for the spicy scenes and major plot points. I think where this book fell a bit flat for me is it was too long for what it is. I love a good Romantasy and I think this book is very much romantasy, but for it to be this long it needed to be more like a romantic fantasy where the world was fully fleshed out and the plot kind of stands on its own, with a romantic subplot and spice. This just didn’t do that for me and I found myself skimming to the end. It’s not a bad book, I think it’s probably a decent option if you don’t normally read fantasy and want to dip your toes in (while enjoying a why choose romance). I just have such a ridiculously long TBR that I am trying to be a bit more ruthless about putting things down when it’s just an ok read for me. I probably won’t read the next one, but will likely look up spoilers (because I do lowkey want to know what happens 😂)
