This had all the trappings for a story I would love but unfortunately fell quite short. While I enjoyed the writing style, I found the main character, Yeva, to be obnoxiously naive. Considering she is supposed to be renowned knight, savior of her Empire, and overall badass, she felt clumsy and unsure of herself at every turn - not to mention the extremely obvious 'mystery' staring her in the face that she didn't figure out until it was quite literally shoved in her face.
Interesting world building despite being a novella but overall a let down.
