Booked on a Feeling by Jayci Lee
3.0

Booked on a Feeling is a charming best friends to lovers romance set against the backdrop of an adorable small town!

Let me start by saying that I have a lot of mixed feelings about this book.

I’ve read the other books in this series of standalones (A Sweet Mess series), and I recall feeling pretty “meh” after them all — enjoyable enough, but not something I’ll rave about. It may be that I don’t connect well with Jayci Lee’s writing.

Going into Booked on a Feeling, I thought I’d love Lizzy because I have some major things in common with her, including her legal work background, being a bookworm who has a dream of opening her own bookstore, and a friends to lovers romance reminiscent of hers. Whether it was how she was written or the situations she found herself in, I struggled to enjoy her character.

I did like the growth both Lizzy and Jack make, individually and in their relationship, although I could have done without the lack of or miscommunication that took up a lot of energy.

A couple of things I found myself loving were Jack’s family and the small town setting. Both were really sweet!

Overall, Booked on a Feeling is not a bad read. However, it did leave me wanting because I never truly felt captivated despite the promising premise.
