The Monster of Elendhaven
by Jennifer Giesbrecht
The atmosphere really drew me in immediately. This gave me so many Dishonored vibes; I was envisioning Dunwall the entire time. Even the narrator had a voice that reminded me of voice actors in the game. So interesting.
There was a lot of body horror in this, but considering the subject matter, it worked. It was very dark and the characters were quite flawed yet you still felt for them in a lot of ways. An interesting magic system happening, too. I think what also caught me was that it had the feeling I expected to get from A Marvellous Light (but didn't).
