My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite
4.0

I enjoyed this book. The plot was interesting. The characters (while I felt there was not a tonne of development) were interesting. It was a quick, somewhat dark read. The entire time I was listening to the narrator Adepero Oduye I was just captivated by her voice. It’s one thing to read a book but to have someone narrate and bring the words to life is a heightened experience.

Set in Nigeria we follow Korede as she deals with her serial killer sister Ayoola. While I felt Ayoola was an absolute narcissistic sociopath I wondered HOW Korede could continue to back her up I found myself feeling sorry for Ayoola and realized that is how serial killers and sociopaths work. They are able to milk sympathy and kindness from everyone while giving nothing in return.

The cover drew me in, the narrator captured me and the story kept me going. Loved it.
