There are things to really enjoy about this book: a really interesting world, and some interesting characters. I really liked Kifah and Altair. I was also supposed to feel for Nasir, but mostly I kept thinking: he's a murderer. And I know it was for a good reason, but I wasn't ready to forgive him. The plot did keep me guessing, and didn't always go where I thought it would. At times, it was too complicated for me, or maybe too meandering, and I found myself skimming.
