She Memes Well
by Quinta Brunson
I started this months ago, but I wasn't familiar with the author or her internet fame. Combined with the fact that she's a bit younger than me and I wasn't drawn in. Fast forward a bit, Abbott Elementary is one of the best shows on tv, and suddenly Quinta Brunson is everywhere. So I picked up the book again, and I'm glad I did. I really liked when she talked about her family, what she loves about comedy (including pop culture that inspires her), and about being normal in LA. I also really liked hearing about the special and possibly illegal school she attended as a kid. This is probably better as an audiobook, assuming that she narrates it herself.
The author is still young with so much more to come and write about so I hope she writes another book. Abbott Elementary only got a passing mention, and I'd love to hear more about how the show came to be. Learning about how she put in her time and grind learning the craft of comedy, much like Tina Fey and Will Ferrell, makes me confident that she will do many more great and funny things.
