Every Note Played
by Lisa Genova
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️— Every Note Played by Lisa Genova
•
Richard is concert pianist who has been diagnosed with ALS. Karina is his ex wife, who gave up parts of her life for Richard. Karina decides to become Richard’s caretaker when his ALS progresses. In this story of pain, sadness and forgiveness, we watch as two people try to reconcile their past because there’s no future to be seen.
•
Wow. Wow. Wow. First, hats off to Genova and her extensive research on the topic of ALS. (Make sure to read her authors note at the end). Her knowledge of the disease and the progression is spot on and to me is what made the book. Hearing her characters “talk” about what they were about to experience is what made the emotion. Richard is a jerk, but you can’t help but to feel for this man. Karina has made horrible mistakes, but watching her care for Richard is painful. This book brought me to tears multiple times, so be ready. Not full sobbing— just welling up in the eyes. But have the tissues ready.
