The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett
5.0

This was my first of Brit Bennet's books - I now need to read The Mothers!!
Her writing is just fantastic. The general premise and plot of the books is so interesting, multifaceted and empathetic. It really shines a light on the flaws and lack of logic when it comes to racism and racist thoughts,
The relationship between the 2 twins is fascinating and although I’m not a twin a have sisters and know what they bond is like. Brit really tapped into that I think.
I love the way that so many generations are written about and how they intertwine and how ‘younger’ people can be the ones to ‘sort things out’ or have more simplistic ways of dealing with these life choices.
I love the way that society, lifestyle and attitudes towards racism, sexism and LGBTQ+ rights changes through the generations, like live tracking how things change, progress or feel stunted.
Absolutely brilliant!!
