Balloon Days by Kristi Strong, Kristi Strong
4.0

This is just one of those books that at the end of reading it, you'd say "I get it, now I get it"

The themes explored in Balloon Days are thought-provoking and delve into important aspects of life and human nature. Strong skillfully weaves in themes of friendship, resilience, and the power of dreams throughout the narrative. The story serves as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, one should never give up hope and always strive to pursue their aspirations.

However, while the book excels in its imaginative world-building and the exploration of certain themes, there are certain aspects that could benefit from constructive criticism. One notable area is the pacing of the story. At times, the plot seems to rush forward, making it difficult for readers to fully absorb and appreciate the events unfolding. Slowing down the pace in some key moments would have allowed for a deeper connection with the characters and their experiences.

Additionally, the character development in Balloon Days could have been further strengthened. While the main characters are likable and relatable, their motivations and inner struggles could have been explored in more depth. Strong establishes a solid foundation for her characters, but fails to fully develop their arcs, leaving readers wanting more insight into their emotional journeys.

Nevertheless, Strong's talent for word building is evident throughout the narrative, creating a visually stunning setting that captures the reader's imagination. While the pacing and character development could have been improved, the thought-provoking themes and the author's skillful storytelling make it a worthwhile read.
