Venom
by Saneh Sangsuk
This is a gorgeous, lyrical short story that you’ll fly through and finish desperate for more.
‘Venom’ is a short story that takes place in a small village in Thailand. The cast of characters is very small and our protagonist remains unnamed.
The human and animal binary is broken down - and for those that don’t know this is my jam (it was my dissertation twice).
The writing is so vivid that, honestly, you’re so wrapped up in that world that anything could happen and you’d love it. It made this short story of less than 100 pages feel much vaster.
I am so in love with this book and may reread it again soon. It’s definitely worth reading - and given it’s so short it would be rude not to squeeze it into your TBR. Will definitely be looking at more from this author, translator and publisher!
