Treasure Island
by Robert Louis Stevenson
Absolutely a masterpiece!
RL Stevenson’s writing is so powerful and descriptive that you jump into the story!
Undoubtedly, the main character is the devious pirate Long John Silver - whose strength and power on the scene can’t but make a resonance on the readers’ mind.
I have loved the story from the first to the last page!
No, let’s move to the unpopular opinion/ don’t like Jim Hawkins at all! He is supposed to be the savior, the kid that saves the day, the good character. No way! He is ready to sail not even 24h after his father’s death. He hides his intentions to anyone who actually trusts him or tries to keep him safe. He kills a man, and still no remorse - despite he’s young and still innocent .
The result is a quite flat do-it-all child.
Long live John Silver!
Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!
