i enjoyed the housemaid when i read it and so thought i’d give this one a go. the main twist did surprise me but apart from that, everything else felt very predictable. the protagonist was annoying, and i feel like mcfadden’s stream of consciousness writing doesn’t work in comparison to someone’s like stephen graham-jones. anyhow, this was entertaining but ultimately predictable and forgettable.
