literarymarvel 's review for:
Redeployment
by Phil Klay
After reading and digesting Redployment, I firmly believe every American should read at least one of the stories within.
A collection of stories with a common core, Redeployment offers a look inside the lives of American military members both on the battlefield and off. Sometimes graphic and more often surreal, it was difficult, as a civilian, to imagine dealing with the situations Klay illustrates.
Reading this only hit home how little knowledge I had on military operations and the hazards facing soldiers and non-infantry militants both physically and mentally. It's an eye opener to see the varying points of view and be led through so many different struggles and conditions.
