Fated Enemies
by Olivia Rose, E.L. DePinto
Solid 4.5 🌟🌟🌟🌟💫
I wanted to love this based off of who the authors are and their social media presence. I won’t lie, I went into this a little biased because I had HIGH expectations. Some indie authors aren’t always the best writers (I’m not either, no judgement) but their ideas are on point so I suffer through awful writing to experience new worlds. The first few pages of Fated Enemies I was like “ehhhh” but I think they were finding their co-authoring groove? Because soon I was immersed and the writing was flowing.
I usually HATE miscommunication tropes, not nearly as much as I can’t stand pregnancy, but it’s high up there. I think for this book it was well done. We didn’t spend 400 pages dealing with non-stop miscommunication. Standard was set for miscommunication trope.
I didn’t feel the complete enemies to lovers bit. I guess it was more “I’m not supposed to like you” to “Oh my gosh puppy fever” to “I hate him” to “Why do I still feel turned on by you?” Not that, “This asshole is slowly growing on me much to my annoyance” But it’s ok by me, because again, all really well done.
I loved the witches. The first few pages of the witch introduction I was already hoping for a witchy spinoff. Then as it progressed with the brother I’m like ok maybe?
Overall, loved the book. The authors blew my expectations out of the water! I unfairly set their bar higher and they jumped over it without breaking a sweat! (less)
