📚 Anna is one of the grumpiest heroines I've encountered recently and I loved her.
📚 Intrigued by this idea that the collateral damage of heroes' escapades might not be worth whatever small thing they save.
📚 Would have loved some deeper worldbuilding here. What do non-powered people think of the hero/villain battles? How do heroes affect international relations? How did the draft system come to be?
📚 The premise of this book - that hero antics take away valuable lifeyears from henches and bystanders - comes REAL close to saying that a disabled person's life is worth less. It doesn't outright say it, and a lot of it comes from Anna's own workaholic tendencies. I guess I feel like this book could have been partly about how capitalism is ableism but didn’t quite take that plunge.
