4.5 stars rounded down - the imagery in this book is simply breathtaking. I wasn't quite sure about Alia and her journey, but I really enjoyed learning about so many people within multiple generations in a way that didn't feel contrite and didn't play too hard on the Arab-without-a-home trope.
