This was tough to read at times because of 1. The subject matter 2. The characters. I don’t say this often but Amb and Sully are truly bitches and I’m terrified of women like this. The level of toxicity was off the charts. Amb, so ever desperate for some kind of affirmations and validation from literally everyone and Sully, a literal bully who might be a sociopath. They ruled the campus and they were total cunts. Can I say that? I think I can, because it’s true. They have no redeeming quality at all. None! I didn’t feel any sympathy for them so throughout the book I was just thinking “am i supposed to care about these people? I don’t care if they live or die.” I found it hard to read the book from Amb’s POV because this girl’s all like “me, me, me” and she talks about it as if it’s not her fault, that she’s just trying to please Sully, that Sully’s the bad influence. ACTUALLY, both of you are terrible human beings.
Also I find it really tough to read this type of writing where you get the now-and-then chapters because it’s usually super vague in the beginning like the author’s hiding something and when it’s done well i’m usually hooked but with this one I could just guess about what the author was hiding and when it was revealed I was just like “yeah? I saw that coming from miles away”. But thanks for trying!
And girl... that ending? Honestly I hated it a little. Like I wanted these bitches to suffer, but they just ended up getting vague emails and some lowkey jail time. Fuck. That! Shit!
Moral of the story: if u feel like ur mentally ill and have no sympathy for other people, please seek help / a therapist like Adrian, and preferably not someone your ex-wife “tried” to murder bc i’m sure that’s a conflict of interest or whatever it’s called.
Jokes aside, another moral of the story, don’t befriend toxic people no matter how cool they are. If they make u uncomfy, get the fuck outta there. I know it’s easy to talk, not super easy when ur in that situation. But if u CAN, don’t befriend toxic people, they don’t deserve u, u don’t deserve it. Being cool isn’t worth it, be lame but happy
