Hawk by Gabrielle Charbonnet, James Patterson
2.0

So positives: the characters were interesting. My favourite was Clete and the other kids from the home. They just seemed the most interesting.

This started off with all the foundations of a great book. I found Hawk relatively likeable, through all her struggles she remained strong and despite everything, she had a good heart.

However, midway through she lost that and we went through a lot of teenage angst and self doubt and just negativity. I get it, we’ve all been there but it just seemed so off-character from what we’d already experienced.
Oh and then suddenly, she flipped back.

Likewise, I found the story slow and it wasn’t gripping like I’d hoped. The action didn’t start until midway through and then the ending was super abrupt. It left so many open questions.

I had really high hopes for this one but was left feeling quite disappointed.
