DNF @ 31%, skimmed the rest

Yikes, this was bad. The FMC was incredibly annoying, and the hero kind of creeped me out. Idk what it was about him, but for some reason him openly flirting with his student turned me off. I really love the teacher/student trope, but I only like it when it’s a “we can’t do this, forbidden type of slow burn” and this was absolutely not that. I also want it to be consensual between both parties, and the heroine was lying about her age while actively having sex with this man…It just felt incredibly icky.

The writing was also just atrocious, and already extremely aged. This book came out in 2015, and some of the references were a little laughable. Facebook was mentioned a few times, and the characters outfits were also heavily described. No one in todays world would wear these clothes unless they were purposefully going for an outfit form 2015. The writing just did not hold up to time, and it’s not even been 10 years since this book came out.

It’s kind of like light torture reading this book, and the fact that’s it’s a series following this already doomed couple is kind of the last straw for me to DNF.
