All the Sinners Bleed
by S.A. Cosby
This is a pretty damn good (and dark) book.
Basically we have Titus, a sheriff who's just trying to help his little town he grew up be less of a shithole racist cesspool. But soon after he witnesses a school shooting, with the shooter aiming for just one teacher and killing him, secrets start to come out about why he did it. Twist and turns, stomach turning reveals, and a great main lead, I was fully invested in this.
My only negative would have been I wished we'd spend more time with the side characters as I feel they're need to grow would have helped the overall world building.
However, this is till great for fans of things like True detective or any cop/thriller type storyline with some cat and mouse elements.
