As much as I enjoyed Naomi pranking Nicholas and trolling her nightmarish, Karen incarnate mother-in-law in the beginning, and the tender rekindling of Naomi and Nicholas’ romance closer to the end, I can’t look past how much some of the events in the middle of the book bothered me. Nicholas crossed multiple lines, and parts of their relationship, while not ever getting to abusive territory, honestly felt so toxic to me that I had no idea how Sarah Hogle was going to turn it all around. So yes, it was cute, but I was enjoying it at arm’s length, so to speak. I also would’ve liked a bit more from the ending, maybe an extra couple of chapters or an epilogue.
